Monday's Mumblings

Hello everyone.

Well, I have been thinking that maybe this blog is not quite like most crafty blogs, and I quite like that really.  It does say cards and chat.....and chatting can be about lots of things.

I am having a coffee and thinking about a card order I received yesterday, which I will start this evening.  Somehow, I am going to make 4 cards for Saturday, get my hair done, go to physio, celebrate my hubby's Birthday and lots more this week.............phew!!

Where ever we walk, just like Pooh Bear and Piglet, we leave our footprints behind us, in the snow, in the sand, in the garden and in peoples hearts.

As it is still winter I thought I would share a Christmas card with you:

You see, I do make them sometimes.

A Day of Rest

Today I thought I would be very traditional and have a day of rest.  I'm off to church in a few moments and thought that some inspiration may not go amiss.  When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

You see, we are all beautiful, it's just that we don't see what everyone else sees.

Doggie Stuff today

Hello everyone

Today I thought I'd put up photo's of doggies and such like, so we will see how this day pans out.

Our two border collies are Jazz and Bess.  Jazz being the male and younger is the more dominant, whilst Bess, the lady is older, smaller and smarter.

Here is Jazz after a run and play on the beach at Roseisle, which is a lovely place with beach, sand dunes and forest all together.  It was very windy that day but that didn't stop the enjoyment.

Bess, on the other hand is looking at the camera, thinking, "Will ye get out of my way?"  You can just see Jazz in the background, waiting for his command.

Here they are getting down to tug of war collie style in the snow!  They really do get on very well.

I don't want to bore you with my doggies photos, so that's all for now.  I will return talking about the matter at hand!  Cards, cards and more cards.  See you all later and have a great day.

Labels

When you buy goods from a shop that are to be a gift it is great to have lovely labels for them.  A local shop asked me to make labels for them to put onto their goods that they were selling, so I thought I would show them here.  The shop is a gift shop and they wanted something completely different, so I had to put on my thinking hat!    They wanted black and gold!

Here are the results:

First of all there are Small Heart Labels, which are 3 inches at the longest part.  I used gold corrugated card for the backing and plain black card for the pretty lace effect on top.
I used a 3" scalloped heart punch for the gold parts and used my cricut expression and the wedding cartridge for the black bits.  I then used my cropodile big-bite to make the little hole for them to thread through their ribbon.

I then made some labels using the black card as the background and gold lacey tops.

These were bigger hearts cut using the cricut machine for both sections and they measured about 4 and 1/4 inches at the longest part.

The next bunch of labels were a different shape altogether.........looking more like real labels:
These were more tricky to make.  Using the cricut machine I cut out both sections again from the same gold and black card, making sure they were all cut at the same measurements so that the two pieces would fit together neatly.  I think it worked quite well.

For their candles they wanted something different, so I thought...................candles?  Church! So this is what I came up with, and they were delighted:

Inspired, I think!  Using the same cricut cartridge......................

For the bigger items I made a few of these:

And the last ones were made using a cuttlebug and embossing/die:
Once these were cut out I gold leafed them on the edges to match in with the other labels.

So there is the story of labels from Annie's Cards.  I hope you are all having a great day today and I will probably be back a little later with other tales and titbits.

And just to finish things off, today I made this lovely black and gold card:

I think this is a grand card.  The black background sets off the gold beautifully, and I love the greetings on the top and the bottom of the centre-piece.  I added the little metallic gold flower, because I could and the gold ribbon down the left had side just sets the whole thing off.  I don't think my photographic skills does the card any justice, but I think you get the drift.  The hearts are decoupaged and gives the whole thing depth.

Size: A5

I really hope you like it, and thank you for visiting.
Centre-piece:  Kanban

A Christmas Card

Today I thought I would share one of my Christmas cards with you and how I made it.
This is a stepper card.  The background of the main picture is from a CD and I will put the details at the end., which I printed onto Kodak premier photographic paper, which is really top quality.  I embossed some white card with the swirl embossing folder on the cuttlebug and cut it to slightly larger than the image, which in this instance is a verse with a candy cane beneath it and a decoupaged one to the side.

The back step has corrugated card with an image of a deer and it is decorated on top with self adhesive ribbon.  The front step has a Christmas flower which I printed and cut out and drew in the veins, and the flower is kept together with a brad.  The flower is backed with a leaf that I took from an artificial plant I am not using anymore and it  it is all glued to the front step.

The front of the card at the bottom is cotton lace which is glued on to the card and a greeting on top of that.  This card also has a tag attached with ribbon, the back of which can be written on by the person giving it.

Here is the tag:

The tag is made from mirricard (silver) with a diecut label placed in the middle.  On top of the die cut label I put an "inchie" which is the little blue embellishment I made; and the end of the ribbon, which is attached by the star.......both the embellishment, ribbon and star are glued to the silver mirricard.

I sprayed the finished card with a little Crafters Companion, Spray and sparkle Silver.

So, I used:

Images and candy cane:        Debbi Moore Christmas CD
Corrugated card:                     Craft Creations
Stepper card :                          Craft Creations
Mirricard:                                  Craft Creations
Christmas Flower:                  Fred She Said download
Cotton lace:                             Panduro
Diecut label:                            Nellie Snellen die and spare piece of white textured card
Ribbon:                                    Spare from personal stash
Glue:                                        Anita's tacky glue
Double sided tape:                Mad about cards
sticky fixers fo raised embellishments:   Mad about card

Here is the complete card with tag:

So, now you see how easy it all is to make things from bits of paper, card and use sticky things?  I could have made my own stepper card, but I didn't want to waste card getting it wrong so I bought it ready to decorate.

I hope you like it and I hope the instructions are clear for you.

So what's on the agenda today?

More card making.............a meeting about the village hall first though!  Oh! and I have to compose a letter of tender to some local businesses.  Then a lovely coffee and take photos of cards made....... In the meantime I think I will just carry on posting photographs .......just for practice you understand ...................

So, first and foremost a few words about collies........
My silly hat at a picnic on the village green......
A Christmas card I made from a freebie decoupage from Cuddly Buddly.........

So you see before you a tiny bit of my life.......doggies, fun and cards.....which is even more fun!

Oh! and just some sound Native American advice:

So there we have it.  The meeting was successful and I had a lovely pasta lunch when I came home and since then I have been uploading cards to my little online shop, and practicing using the blog.  i will take time to describe how I make my cards as I get more proficient using the blog.  To those who are interested, I use a cuttlebug, xyron cutter, impress and a cricut expression.  Ask me what they are about if you don't already know.

I buy most of my crafty items from Craft Creations, Crafts U Love, Mad about Cards, Card Craft Plus and a few other outlets.

A question:  Am I a messy crafter?
Answer: I am.

Question:  Are you a messy crafter?

I'm off to have my tea .............see you later.
